GAELIC CLASSES

Interested in learning Scottish Gaelic?
Interested in possibly participating in a Mod?

Frances Acar is taking new students who are interested in learning Gaelic language and song. She uses several methods to teach.  She does have regular classes, plus tutorial materials.  But if you have Internet access, you can also learn from her via Skype or even digital sound files sent by e-mail.  You do not need to physically attend class.

The tutorial materials are available for anyone who might be interested in competing as a beginner in the next mod. The materials include a CD of the songs to be learned and song sheets of the Gaelic words and translations.

Apart from teaching Gaelic, she runs tutorial sessions throughout the year teaching the songs for the following year's mod. Class times by arrangement.
Beginners very welcome.

In 2008, our Rose and Thistle Award was awarded to Frances for the work she does in the Scottish Community.  She heads our Beltane Celebration and is on the Board of the Scottish American Cultural Society of Ohio.  She supports many area Scottish efforts, teaches Scottish Gaelic and song, presents participants in Gaelic mods, and teaches Scottish Country Dancing.  Her students have won many prizes in competitions over the years.  She now teaches Gaelic via the Internet (don't know how she does that) and thus reaches far outside our local community.
